Who we are

Players Nearby is a platform for finding and joining public sports sessions. We are operated as an independent service. For data-related inquiries, contact us at privacy@playersnearby.com.

What data we collect

• Email address: collected when you request a login link; used solely for authentication and transactional notifications.
• Display name: optional; set in your profile; shown to other users on session pages.
• Sport profiles: optional; sport preferences and skill levels you set in your profile.
• Session data: sport, title, location, start and end times, and capacity for sessions you create.
• Participation records: which sessions you have joined or hosted.
• Guest name: if you join a session as a guest (without an account), your chosen name is stored with that session.

We do not collect payment information, location data beyond what you enter for sessions, or any data from third-party advertising networks.

How we use your data

• To authenticate you via magic link email.
• To display your profile and sessions to other users of the platform.
• To send transactional emails: login links and session cancellation notifications.

Your data is never sold, rented, or shared with third parties for advertising purposes.

Where your data is stored

All personal data is stored on servers located in the EU West region (Frankfurt, Germany) via Railway. This is compliant with GDPR requirements for EU data residency.

Data retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all personal data (including your email, profile, sport preferences, session records, and participation history) is permanently and immediately deleted. This action is irreversible.

Your rights

Under GDPR you have the right to access and erase your personal data.

• Right to erasure: Delete your account at any time from the Profile → Edit profile page. This immediately hard-deletes all your personal data.
• Right to access or other requests: Email us at privacy@playersnearby.com.

Cookies and local storage

We do not use third-party tracking cookies or analytics. No cookie consent banner is required. We use browser localStorage solely for functional purposes: storing your authentication token (JWT) and temporary guest tokens for sessions you join without an account. This data never leaves your device except as part of normal API requests to our servers.
